Stone extraction in the majority of worldпїЅs quarries including that of limestone is carried out by splitting of a rock solid monolith in a vertical surface thus forming horizontal and vertical ledges. This method is only effective for the stone quarrying on the limited area and it brings certain damage to the ecological environment.

The limestone quarrying in Alma deposits bears a different character. The stone is cut off a rock solid monolith by low-step stonecutting machines in two stages.
The first stage consists in preliminary пїЅcuttingпїЅ along the full length of the working ledge into the required type-sized blocks by cross cutting through the full height of the ledge.

And the second stage involves direct block slicing on the working sledge using stonecutting machines for longitudinal cutting of the monolith with horizontal disk and vertical circular miller designed by Stolyarov.

All stonecutting machines use circular and disk millers with carbide-tipped tools. This quarrying method is environmentally friendly and due to its characteristics it can be referred to the пїЅGreen buildingпїЅ category. Absolutely no harmful solid or liquid wastes are released into the surrounding ecosystem.
